Abstract In the seismic design, failure of members by providing adequate shear reinforcement because of its brittleness. Vc should correspond to the shear of the development of diagonal tension crack because the tension of web reinforcement begin to increase just other the occuring of that. On the after hand, it may be better that Vs is defined based on the shear at which the web reinforcement crossed by the diagonal crack yield. Obtained formula for Vc is based on the flexural bond stresses and from the calculation the 180 specimens the value of 0.24 was obtained as the coefficient of variation. Vs was determined as the function of PsFsy where Ps and Fsy are the ratio af web reinforcement and the yield strength of that, respectively. The formula for Vs may be considered to correspond to the lower limit of the contribution of web reinforcement as mentioned above.
