A Study on the Air Flow Pattern of High Rise Apartment House with Model Scale Experiment |
Abstract |
To verify the behavior of natural ventilation in high rise apartment houses, the characteristics of wind flows around buildings has been examined. Series of model scale testings by using subsonic wind tunnel have been made. Providing scale models of building, various wind pressure coefficients are measured with different layout of buildings, and the visualization of wind flow around buildings are produced. The results of model scale experiment are as follows:1) According to testing result with various wind velocities, in the case of Reynolds Number is more than 1.3*10 similarity is retained and wind pressure coefficient is always 0.1 at the edge of wind shadow.2) The higher and wider apartment houses would not be recomendable because wind shadow area is getting larger with the greater height and width of the building. |
