A Study on the Effect of Perspective on Spatial Organization |
Abstract |
In accordance with the principle of optics, human beings perceive surroundings in perspective through their eyes. The phenomenon of perspective was understood by ancient Greeks through the study of optics. There is certain evidence that they applied the knowledge of perspective to their architecture. The perspective was rediscovered during the Renaissance, and since then it had tremendous impact on art and architecture as well as urban design.Although the principle of perspective was not logically understood in many other cultures, there is ample evidence that the artisans emphasized the effect of perspective in the works of architecture. This paper aims at understanding the nature of perspective and its impact on spatial organization. |
