A Study on the Vernacular Houses in Yong-Dong Region |
Abstract |
This paper is the continuation of the previous research, "A Study on the Vernacular Houses in Yong -Dong Region(I)." The study was made to compare the developmental aspects of vernacular houses in the southern and the northern areas of Yong-Dong region in Korea. The typical plans of vernacular domestic houses in that areas show similarities in the arrangement of rooms and in the plan pattern, that is double-room type. Some of the findings of the study are as follows; The basic pattern of the floor plans was founded to be of two KAN lateral by four KAN longitudinal. The location of stable is usually contained in the kitchen part when the building form takes a straight lined shape. Lastly, wooden floors (MARU)are essential factors that constitutes the general plan type of the houses in that area. |
