Abstract Results of test on five full-scale interior wall-to-floor joint assemblies of the "closed" type under concentric compressive loading are reported.The tests were conducted under increasing axial loading to failure with continuous monitoring of the load-deflection and cracking behavior of the joints.The main parameters investigated were the effect of strength of the joint grout on the ultimate carrying capacity and mode of failure of the joint with bearing pad and without bearing pad.The experimental results are compared with computer analysis in plain strain element with package program ADINA(Automatic Dynamic Incremental Nonlinear Analysis).Also the experimental results are compared with the PCI recommendations for designing horizontal joints and the other available data.
