Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a computer aided daylighting analysis method for the building interior space by utilizing the speed and the accuracy of the computer calculation. In order to make the method can be applied under any sky condition, the brightness for every solid angle, 0.01 steradian, of the sky is defined. The adapted calculation method is very versatile and can be easily modified for the future daylighting analysis of irregular room shape. The developed method is verified by comparing the calculated values from computer program and measured values from model tests in the box type artificial sky simulator. The results are discussed and the future recommendations are suggested.
