A Study on the Analysis of City Image of Seoul |
| Abstract |
A person's image of the environment within which he is living bears a consistent and meaningful relationships to his experiences with it. Understanding of people's image on their physical settings provides a good basis for environmental design which is more congruent and harmonious with their needs. In this centext, this study addresses itself to manifold challenges. Firstly, it attemps to find characteristics of the urban image of Seoul and the differentces of images between various social groups. Secondly, it also tries to examin the types and methods of structuring the urban image by people. The findings of the study are similiar with Seoul and Western cities, but some significant differences are emerging in the process of formation of urban image, ie;Koreans have higher tendency of using the spatial method than those of Westerners. |
