Abstract The purpose of this paper is to research indoor thermal environment of day-use building which is retrofited by installing sunspace.The building has been used as lecture room and laboratory since 1964. Of late, to reduce energy use of the building, pairglasses are installed all over the south facing facace and sunspaces are constructed on overhang of the building. Existing south spandrel parts of the building are used as storage masses of the sunspace, but there's no airvent between sunspace and near room.The characteristic of the building is limitation of using time. In this paper, the differences of temperature between indoor and outdoor are used to calculate 'energe savings', and actuall measurements(during the period of Dec. 1 to Jan. 31) are used to analize the thermal environments of sunspace and near room.
