A Study on the maintenance of the design database consistency using knowledge bases. |
| Abstract |
This paper is concerned with the problems that arise from the attempts to integrate the components of a builiding model into a database that reflects the current status of a design. From the experience using and constructing computer-aided building modelling systems,difficult questions have come up to draw research attention. They are categorized in two parts: how to make a design database consistent,and how to maintain consistency,both spatial and nonspatial,as the design develops. These problems are related to a general problem what is the relationships between the design process and the designed objects. The intention of this paper is not to provide the answer,but to emphasize the importance of these problems and provide some research directions. |
