Abstract In this paper, we examine the hysteretic behaviour of bracing members and cross braced frames experimentallyExperimental results are described on cyclic inelastic behaviour of steel bracing members and cross braced frames.i. As individual bracing member, 8 double angles with fixed-end condition were tested. The slenderness ratios were considered as main parameter in experiment. All specimens were subjected to a series of quasi-static, axially applied, displacement and load reversal cycles as a "push-pull" test. Hysteretic loops for applied axial force versus axial deformation are presented and interpreted.ii. To investigate the inelastic behaviour of steel cross braced frame under monotonous or repeated horizontal force, tests were carried out using one-bay one-story unit steel rigid frames with double angles bracing. All specimens were designed to strong column and weak beam type frames with wide flange steel sections.Five frames were tested:Four braced and one unbraced frames. The horizontal load was applied to the beam-to-column connection of test frames.
