Empirical Research on Psychological Responses to Ex-cubic Architectural Space |
Abstract |
As the research on ex-cubic architectural space, the experiment measured and compared the aesthetic effects of the geometry variable of the architectural space. The stimulus were for 1/15 model simulations of office spaces. The measuring instrument consisted of 30 seven-point continuum adjectival scales and two rankings. To test the hypotheses, subjects were selected with two groups and participated in this experiment.The findings are that people prefer some degree of complexity and ambiguity in visual patterns and this effects are influenced and modified by his educational major or career. Therefore people are accustomed to more complex and ambiguous architectural space. |
