Abstract Welded columns manufactured from high strength steel plates are being used more frequently in steel construction due to economy and convenience. But yet design formulas prepared for rolled H-columns are being applied to welded columns. Therefore the Basic Column Curve based on the deterministic approach would significantly over and under estimate the buckling strength. ECCS and SSRC proposed Multiple Column Curves which obtained by means of the probabilistic approach used in evaluating numerous experiments. The experimental tests on axiallly loaded, welded H-columns(H-100X100X6.4X6.4)manufactured from SWS58 are conducted buckling tests, stub column test, residual stress measurement. This study is a series of investigation on the proposal of Multiple Column Curves for bucking strength of steel columns in Korean specification, and test results compared with Mulitiple Column Curves of ECCS and SSRC.
