A Practical Method for CPM PERT Scheduling in Construction Project |
| Abstract |
The application of the network scheduling of CPM/PERT is now required in construction fields when a general contractor executes building construction owned by Korea National Housing Corporation(KNHC). However, the actual utilization of the above method has been used only on controlling the given completion time in a contract document. This study analyses the main reasons of the impractical use of CPM/PERT, which gets out of the initial goals, through a field investigation and interview of managers in job sites. This paper leads to some active suggestions which might force general contractors to apply the scientific method into an actual network scheduling from the viewpoint of KNHC. The suggestions could be classified into three categories; national level, owner's level, general contractor's level. The full explanation of three categories are referred in the general discussion of the Chapter IV. The genuine meaning of application of CPM/PERT can be revealed in the process of applying the effective suggestions rather than the method itself. |
