Abstract This experimemtal study aimes at investigating the pattern and velocity of indoor air-flow by the variation of window and improve the living environment through the model tests of subsonic wind tunnel. There fore, the new, accurate and whole data of indoor air-flow is riquired because the previous data presented only the amount of ventilation or a main level of air velocity. In this paper, the pattern and the velocity of indoor air-flow is measured in case of the mutual variation of the inlet and outlet at the same wall, the variation of the outlet at the neighboring side wall, the variation of the outlet at the side wall without varing the inlet and having the outlet at side and back wall without varing the inlet. The findings are as follows.1. When the side ventilation is used, the air velocity in room is lower than that of cross ventilation, but when the combination ratio of opening size is m>1, the air velocity of cross ventilation is higher than of side ventilation. 2. The side ventilation make higher velocity on floor and ceiling levels, but the velocity of main air stream of the side ventilation is lower that of cross ventilation. 3. A velocity difference of each level in side ventilation is lower than that in cross ventilation and the distribution of air velocity in side ventilation is more uniform than that in cross ventilation. 4. The change of inlet location has a large influnce on the velocity, the diretion, and the velocity distribution of indoor air-flow, but that of outlet location has a little influence on them. 5. The decrease of the velocity indoor air-flow is in accordance with the magnitude of indoor pressure with little influence of resistance lengh.
