The Study on the Pattern of Architectural Changes of the Rural Houses near Seoul |
Abstract |
This study is to identify the pattern of architectural changes of the rural houses near Seoul during the period of modernization. A rural village in Yong-In was selected as the study site. Existing and past condition, motivation and the process of change, and the relationship between the architectural change and life style were investigated through the field research. Through various ways of analysis, we could find that, 1) there were three different stages of change, 2) the change was strongly geared toward the urban type houses, 3) at each stages of change, there are some aspects that are persistently preserved, 4) the most common change occurred in Kitchen and spatial increase of each room was dominant. |
