Abstract It is expected that the railway noise impacts on our living circumstance will generally be increased.The main object of this study is to develop the evaluation model of noise-impact, and is also to provide the basic informations on the standardization of railway noise level in urban areas.With a sample of 154 respondents living in different residential areas exposed to noise sources, a field survey has been made to measure the noise levels and non-physical evaluation criteria. Regression analysis has been applied to examine the interrelationships among the noise levels, noise perceptions, dissatisfaction, life disturbances. The results of analysis can be summarized as follows ;1) A linear equation for the dissatisfaction of railway noise is developed as, y=0.0641x-0.6473,where x is the noise level.2) It has been proved that the individual variables such as ago, period of residence, health condition and income levels are not significantly related to the attitudes, but the noise level is the most sensitive factor on the subjective response.
