Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the social and psychological aspects of social behavior among the residents of middle class apartment houses in neighborhood context, and to determine related variables.Documentary research and questionnaire survey methods were used.1. It was found that types of neighboring contact of the residents represented superficial contact or aquaintanceship, and resource exchange, rather than an intimate level of contact. It was revealed that whether the residents had a sense of belongingness was clearly a function of length of residence.2. When the apartment type was low rise, the residents reported higher level of intimate contact. The stage in family life cycle and job status of homemakers were the predictors for neighborhood participation.3. The degree of neighboring contact was conrrelated with neighborhood participation. The degree of perceived homogeneity was correlated with neighborhood attachment. The degree of neighboring contact was correlated with neighborhood attachment and the degree of perceived homogeneity.
