| Abstract |
The xia-ang which is raked at an angle is a component of Gong-Po(Korean bracket system). The function is a leverage arm to counterbalance the force applied by the purlins and the upper roof structures.The xia-ang originated from a structural device but had evolved into an indispensable decorative element.This stydy tracks the evolutional process of the xia-ang from the creation to the extinction. And this study is meaningful in that it arranges the knowledge of the xia-ang which has been touched upon in fragments. |
