A study on the Structural Analysis of Symmetrical two hinged Gable Frame with Tie-bar |
Abstract |
In the gable frame when a tie-bar is connected between the eaves, the stress and deformation of the frame are decreased due to being reduced thrusts. But in the case that disturbance of ceiling space use is, by raising the attaching position of tie, we can design the members more economically than not attaching it.This thesis is studied only when the uniformly distributed load acts on the symmetrical two hinged gable frame with tie-bar. The result can be summarized as follows :1) this research develops not only the theoretical formulas of tension of tie and horizontal reaction but the practical formulas of them.2) the important elements which effect on the member stress are the attaching position of tie and the slope of roof. And the influence of other elements, the other dimensions of frame and member section, is small.3) when designed, if the position of tie is higher than that of 40% of the gable riser from the eaves or the roof slope is smaller than 2/10, the effect of tie is trivial. And even though the area of tie is enlarged more than required area, the efficiency of tie is small. |
