Abstract The meaning of mixed land use is mainly intend to counterbalance that of seperate land use as a catchall for situations that may be deemed to represent a mixture of functions and activities.Thus, the mixture of architectural functions in Mixed-Use Complex should be analyzed with relavance to the relationships between the functions as well as to the aspects of urban planning.This study was dealt with through those aspects.To fine out the general characteristicts of land use-mixture, 16 MXD-projects in Korea, U.S.A. and West Germany were selected as a case study. Diversity of the architectural functions and the conditions of their formation were analyzed.
