The Conditions of an Ideal Three Generation Sharing House |
Abstract |
Increasing the supply of the three generation sharing house may be presented as a solution for both the housing problem and the old problem. And the conditions of a desirable three generation sharing house can be abstracted from the housing needs of the middle aged because they are a central generation.Thus this study aims to find out the housing needs of the middle aged. Questionnairs were distributed to 461 persons living in Seoul agedbetween 31 and 49. The data were analyzed withSAS package in KAIST using the statistical methods such as frequency, percentage, chi-square, log-liner, etc.The results were as follows,1) More than 85% of th middle aged was not opposed to live together with their parents.2) The eldest sons, grown up in a large family in a country, engaged in commerce or sales with lower income, showed the highest rate for sharing a house with their parents.3) It is desirable an apartment or a detached house sized about 35 pyung, equipped with convenient internal facillties, and located without dengerous surroundings.4) The house should have a pretty large room for the middle aged and a separte room with a small bathroom for the old but the kitchen, the dining room and the ent- rance may be used together.5) We recommed the charing style for the shared livingroom, flooring style for the elderly' room with a wall closet, and mixing style for the middle aged couple's room eqiped with abed.6) The house should be registered by the name of the middle aged couple and planned to be partially shared the spaces of the middle aged by the old. A simple floor plan for a three generation sharing house favorite for the middle aged is presented in the main text. |
