Abstract Many buildings have used reflective glazing to reduce heat load and to create beautiful building facade image since 1979 in Korea. However, these buildings may affect glare and heat load of a neighbouring building. This study aims to investigate the effect of reflected sunlight to occupant's visual environment of apartment adjacent to a commercial complex building, using a large-reflective dome on the foof, in Seoul. For the purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted in August 1988 and 138 occupants were asked to rate their subjective responses on visual environment caused by reflected sunlight. Results of the study can be summarzied as follows,(1)Occupants controlled the reflected sunlight by ourtains. It resulted in increasing temperature, and decreasing humidity and natural ventilation in indoor environment of apartment.(2)Occupants were temporarily blinded by intense reflected sunlight for 3-5hours a day. It produced vertigo, headache and mental hysterics to occupants.
