Abstract .A steel K-type braced frame has some particular hysteretic loops in comparison with other braced frames for example X-type, eccentric or Z-type etc. In case of K-type braced frames, if the midspan of beam element yields to the disturbing force between tensile and compressive braces, the tensile brace loses its reaction force. Hence the hysteretic behavior of a K-type braced frame is under the heavy influence of beam element rigidity. To investigate the inelastic cycle behavior of a steel K-type braced frame under monotonous or repeated lateral loads, the experiments were carried out using one-bay one-story rigid frames with double angles bracing. All specimens were designed to be strong column and weak beam type frames. In this paper the test results are discribed and discussed on the inelastic cycle behavior of K-type braced frames.
