Abstract This is a study on the construction of Buddist temples in the late period of Chosun Dynasty, especially focused on funds, materials and participants of the construction of the Kiroso Wondang for a royal family's shrine in Songkwang sa. The construction was promoted with the financial supports such as supplying funds and mobilizing labours by the government, in a different way from the ordinary self-sufficient constructions. The suppervisor dispatched from the government took charge of administrative affairs and the monks of the temple had the whole responsibility for the constuctional execution. The technical builders participated in the construction were not skilled monks but private craftmen.
