Abstract The energy conservation of a residential building in Korea accounts for approximately 31.5%(1988) of the total energy requirement, of which more than 80% is dependant of imports. In particular, the energy conservation of residential sector is very important when it is considered that the energy being consumed at the building is heavily one-sided consumptive compared without of an industrial use. The energy performance criteria currently in applications of the residential building is regulated in terms of the thermal conduction of "K" coefficient of the building envelops, but the prevailing trend is that, in case of most of the advanced countries, it is being shifted to the application of unit dimensions of a total system of regulation, that is, from the concept of a plane surface to that of a space, largely because of the procedural complexity, working uniformity and an estanded movement of natural energy. The system of total regulation is the building energy analytical techniques being expanded from detailed methods to the simplified method and from the large computer programming to the micro-computer software programming.1.The major scopes of works include; -The algorithm and programming to do a simplified calculation of heat loss and solar heat gain. -Analysis of solar irradiation used as energy sources with respect to solar energy being acquired. -Simulation of "G","B" coefficient of a sample residence.2.The major research outcomes are; -Comparative analysis of the measured solar irradiation with the techniques of simplified calaulations using the extinction factor of "T" coefficient. -As result of doing simulation of a 45-Pyong sample residence using computer programming (M-CAD)the value obtained was "G"=1.33, "B"=1.05W/m3.
