Mechanical Properties and Buckling Strength of Stainless Steel Members |
Abstract |
Stainless steels can be used for structural members due to superior corrosion resistance and easy maintenance. The manual for structural design of stainless members is needed because there is not the reference about stainless steel in the code of steel structure design. In this study the mechanial properties of stainless steel are investigated experimentally. And the stainless steel column strength of H-shaped section, circular hollow section and square hollow section are discussed by the theoretical prediction, which is based on the beam-column concept and is numerically analyzed by a trial and error procedure. Most probable column buckling curves are derived through statistical evaluation of numerical analysis results and are compared with the curves of mild steel members which is SWS 41 class. |
