| Abstract |
This study aimed at providing scientific information that can help the covernment and the maintenance staff to deal with the problems with apartment deterioration and residents' dissatisfaction Structured observation and an extensive survey of the listed apartments in Seoul using the nonproportional stratified sampling method, provided the data which were then analyzed for the systematic evaluation of deterioration, factors influencing rapid deterioration,and the relationship of apartment deterioration to residential satisfaction. For these analyses, various parametric statistical analysis techniques, including principal component analysis and oneway analysis of variance, were performed.Major findings included the deterioration evaluation checklist composed of 57 5-point scale items,social and environmental factors affecting deterioration and other environmental variables related to residential satisfaction. These findings were discussed in terms of the implications for housing design, construction, and maintenance. |
