A Study on the architectural terms of the Chosun Dynasty |
| Abstract |
There are many building terms in You-kon-eu-kwe, the building documents written by the government in the second half of the Chosun Dynasty. Comparing those terms in chronological order, we can see that the building terms of the Chosun Dynasty started to show the tendency of change in the latter half of the 18th century.The tendencies are as follow:1) terms written in Idu characters had been changed into original Chinese character.2) various terms for one item had been unified into one or two terms3) many new terms which had not been used before the 18th century appeared especially in the field of window. |
