Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the thermal characteristics of surface heat transfer of internal and external building walls that have great effects on the indoor temperature change, thermal comfort and energy consumption.Field tests on two office buildings were performed by using of Thermal Video System to measure the amount of heat transferred from the surface of building walls. The findings are as follow.1) For buildings occupied during daytime only, selection of internal walls with proper thermal mass is required as considerable amount of heat was transferred from the surface of wall during night(after working time). Surface temperature of internal wall was higher than those of adjacent rooms as well.2) Heat storage and transfer from the external walls under the same climatic and architectural condition are primarily governed by the solar intensity per orientation of walls and affected party by the surface wind velocity.
