Abstract The objective of this study is to obtain deeper understanding of the behavior of net-reinforced concrete shear panels. The net-reinforced shear panels are being widely used in building structures and bridges as lateral load resistant structural system. Therefore, the proper stress-strain relationships of net-reinforced concrete shear panels are required for getting the better analytic results.A lot of experiments for reinforced concrete shear panels have been conducted by many researchers, but most of these experiments have been failed to achieve uniform shear stresses within the specimen.Unlike the existing experiments, an entirely new approach is proposed in this study. The specimen is chosen as a cylindrical tube(21.6cm of inner diameter, 29.8cm of outer diameter, 80cm of length) subjected to torsional and axial load considering the end restraint effect in torsion and the variation of shear stresses in radial direction. By using this proposed tubular specimen, it is possible to achieve a uniform stress state within the specimen. By the results of this study, with increasing compressive force, the maximum shear strength is increased but the specimens which are under compressive force are dominated by brittle failure.
