Abstract Most of the clay bricks which need much energy in the process of manufacture, are generally wasted in the constructing activities. It is one of the very important tasks to develop the waste bricks so that can be re-utilized as the useful building materials. In this experimental study, 2 kinds of clay bricks mostly used in the construction and 1 kind of waste brick were selected as the experimental specimen. A concrete plate was made out of the above 3 kinds of bricks which were crushed into grains. In order to observe whether the concrete plate a good quality for the construction or not, this study were accomplished centering on the drying shrinkage and abrasion of the concrete plate. The recults are as follow 1. The drying shrinkage ratio of the crushed brick concrete was 1.5-2.5 times higher than terrazzo but became lower according as the grading ratio was getting higher and the absorption ratio, lower.2. The abrasion ratio of the concrete plate and the terrazzo took longer time in the early step. This time, the abrasion ratio could be calculated because it was consistent when the surface of the concrete became un-rugged.3. The abrasion ratio of the crushed brick concrete plate was the highest in case the B brick was used, the lowest in case C brick was used, and 0.6-1.5 times higher than terrazzo.4. The more high was the grading ratio of the crushed brick, the more high was the stone appearance ratio to length. The stone appearance ratio to length of the crushed brick concrete was usually higher than terrazzo.5. In order to make more than 50% of the stone appearance ratio to length regulated by KS(Korean Standard), the crused brick concrete must be abraded for 45 seconds or so(in the case of the concrete 1.5-2.0mm thick). The stone appearance ratio to length and the stone appearance ratio to area were usually the highest when the crushed brick concrete plate was abraded for approximately 75 seconds and the terrazzo, for 120.
