Abstract Mixed use development(MXD) are characterized by 3 or more significient revenge producing uses(such as retail, office, residential etc.) as well as physical and functional integration of the components. In addition, MXDs are usually developed from the outset in conformance with coherent development strategy and plan. This study aims to find out the functional intergration of project components according to the types of MXD. As conclusion. following aspects for the planning of future MXDs were found out.1) The positive effect of synergy(development potential and market synergy) is derived from the larger scale and size of MXDs. The C-Type("neighborhood mix") takes the best position for the development.2) Figure 3-3 outlines a general system showing each uses potential positive effect on other uses.Residential is not the use that can potentially derive the most support from on-site, in comparison with office and retail. But our analysis of case buildings indicates that office and residential are main functions of MXDs.3) Office components take relatively smaller portion in the cases of MXDs, while it should play the significant role for the projects.
