| Abstract |
The traditional dwelling house in Cheju-do Island is the result of the social-cultural factor and is expression of the ancestor's thought, religion and cosmology. This study shows the structure and meaning of the traditional dwelling house in Cheju-do through the shamanism.The traditional dwelling house in Cheju-do is the center of the world and sacred space in which the cosmology of the shamanism is expressed and the communication of heaven and earth is possible. And the traditional dwelling space has the dualism as the space of man and gods, and the divine space of house is organized by the god's hierarchy. |
