From Ordinary Wall to Furniture-Type Wall |
| Abstract |
This paper reports research study on the applicability of Fruniture-type walls to the apartment housing. This wall type is devised to function as both an ordinary interior wall and a storage space.The paper particularly focuses on the modular coordination and design of the apartments that incorporate this new idea about the apartment wall. The research included a survey of residents' storage behavior and the existing practice of the wall design. The research provided the basis for formulating an apartment design using the furniture wall. The paper finally presents various practical and functional effects of the furuniture wall such as overall reduction of floor footage, along with some design suggestions to increase its feasibility and applicability. |
