Abstract To obtain the effect of aize and quantity of coarse aggregate on the compressive strength and stress-strain characterestics of high strength concrete, compressive loading test were carried out on the various strength of concrete from 300 to 1,000kg/cm3.For each mix four different size of coars aggregate, that is, 5-10, 10-15, 18-20 and 20-25mm are used individually. In addition, the concrete having mixed size coarse aggregate with the mix proportion of 1:2:1 by weight was also made. Three 10x20cm cylinder specimens were made for each concrete mix with various single sizes of coarse aggregate and with mixed size aggregate. In Table 3, the compressive strength for the mixed size coarse aggregate concrete synthisized from the strength constituent single size ones was also listed, and was compared with the test result. Good agreement between them can be ohtained. In Fig. 11, the typical stress-strain curves obtained are shown with the synthesized ones from those on the single coarse aggregate concrete. The synthesized curve agreed fairly well the measured ones by mixed size coarse aggregate concrete.
