An Experimental Study on the Spatial Effects of the Furniture |
| Abstract |
This study is concerned with the actual condition in the dwelling space effected by the increasing tendency of the furniture occupancy. The purpose of this study is to grasp the desirable arrangement of the room conditions and atmospher from a viewpoint of spatial effects of furniture. The visual feeling with the room conditons that the sample furniture were arranged in the living room model with the scale of 1/10, is judged in the same order on each bipolar semantic scale of the adjectives.In the process of this study, eight representative descriptions to evaluate interior environment in the living room are developed. Major factors from the analysis on the spatial effects have been extracted activity and evaluation.The results of this study are following;1) Concerning the affecting dimensions is classified following two categories:activity dimension by the quantity of furniture, evaluation dimension by the arrangement and size.2) Concerning the spatial effects of furniture, man felt higher value at following 3 conditions;(1)furniture volume ratio with 3 to 6%(2)the lower height of cabinet than that of eye's level on sofa(3)arrangement of living room furnitures with L type sofa and I types cabinet |
