A Study on the interpretation of Modern Architecture by Myth-system |
| Abstract |
It can be said that myth is a type of speech and the study relating to it is a branch of Saussure's semiology. In this meaning, the myth system is a semiological system as well as a language system, therefore it consist of the relating of signifier, signified and sign. In this study, this myth system is applied to the works of Michael Graves, a type of Modern Architecture interpretation. In this myth system, all his favorite elements-such as column, wall, ceiling, moulding, articulated pediment, keystone, lattice work, color, cave, etc.-is analyzed. |
