Title A Study on Thermal Comfort Conditions of the Floor in Low Temperature Floor Heating System

Abstract Purposes of this paper are to find out thermal characteristic of floors and human body through experiment, to examine the heat conduction beteen human body and floors in case of contact and to compare the contact thermal load derived from above with the whole body thermal sensation.Results are as follows.1.The contact coefficient of low temperature radiant heating floor is 16.47(kcal/mhr C) in Korean houses. And this is very similar to that(16.81 kcal/m hr/C)of the test floor used in this study.2.The contact coefficient of body in normal clothing is about in the range of 10-15(kcal/m/C) on the test floor.3.The ratio of contact area of body to DuBois area is 0.315% when sitting on the floor.4.The experiment shows that the neutural point of contact thermal sensation means the floor temperature which makes to be able to conduct similar heat flux to that flowing from skin to air.5.On the basis of the concept in No.4,the therfmal load by contact on the floor is calculted, and the effect of the therfmal load on whole body thermal sensation is compared with the difference of voting to whole body therfmal sensation according to the duration of contact on the floor. The results fairly agree with each other.6. The effect of clothing between man and floor on the contact thermal conduction get smaller as time goes by.
