A Study on Evaluation of Equivalent Coefficients for the Elasto-Plastic Analysis of Steel Frames |
Abstract |
A partial decrease of stiffness maybe caused by plastic deformation in cross sections of the members of steel framed structures. An elasto-plastic solutions of these steel frames have aleady been developed and researched by many methods. This paper is a basic study which is applicable to the assembly of stiffness matrix for the elasto-plastic analysis of steel frames. The purpose of this paper is to derive the exact solution of elasto-plastic bending moment-curvature relationship with three different shaped cross sections and using this relationship, to evalute the equivalent stiffness coefficients(eg. bendingmoment, axial force) In current researches on inelastic behavior of steel framed structures, a marked increase in the ultimast strength and ductility in load-deflection relationship has been reported. This tendency maybe mainly caused by strain-hardening of the material. Considering this, in my study, the stress-strain diagram is assumed as ideal elastic-plastic curve with linear strain-harderning(Fig. 2-4) and the shapes of cross sections for the numerical analysis are rectangular type, H-shaped type, and box-shaped type cross sections. |
