Abstract After beginning of mordernization, according to socio-cultural change, Koreans life style has changed in verious ways and problems on traditional life style, generation gap, status gap, etc, have been more serious. Therefore, we need to discuss today's housing in the aspect of quality as well as quantity. In this respect, I will try to show the consciousness of inhabitants and life behavior. To do so, I reorganized ousing space on original housing form of Japanese through field study by the anthropological methodology.Consequently, I have been drawn these points as the conclusion. First, most of original one-family houses have been changed to multi-family houses. Second, considering that many of those houses are used for rent, neighborhood shop inner-house factory, inhabitants want to their houses for mean of economic reproduction besides living space. Third, inhabitants understand living space through their own subculture, Therefore, living space has been reorganized and personalized gradually by inhabitants own needs. Fourth, space form and human behavior keep balance by means of their interaction and reciprocal relation.
