Abstract Modern populist tradition and symbolism was rooted on the era of Enlightenment. In post-modern critical discourse on populist trends, gigantic and Platonic monuments and the Alphine City were replaced with dream of Disney Land and fantasy on the street at Las Vegas. American version of post-utopian stage of Modern Architecture was introduced with Robert Venturi's thesis in 1966.American populist traditons are debted to Frank Lloyd Wright's works such as Prairie School and Usonian houses for an arcadian utopia of the Broadacre City. Venturi succeeded Wright's interest in both of high culture and low culture. Ornament and decorated shed is centered in his notion of populist design. The ornament flows on the surface of a building and the planar strategy against 'ducks' in the sculptural tendencies and abstract expressionism are embodied on billboards. He is one of the very sensitive theorists who anticipated new phase of Modern Architecutre. They are Robert Venturi, Aldo Rossi and Colin Rowe.
