Title |
A Study on the Trend of Contemporary Architecture and Ex-Cubic Space Form in Europe |
Abstract |
The stream of contemporary architecture, pluralized in its practices and theories, can be said as Ex-Cubic tendency expressing dynamic forms instead of cubic architecture which dominated the modernism. This paper attempts to formulate characteristics of Ex-Cubic tendency as a transformed spatial order with curve, diagonality and axis, and to analize those characteristics in reference with the spatial dynamism.Case study of European contemporary architects shows that; tension by direction and superimposed grid by axis changes the spatial flow with compression and expansion and causes simultaneity and continuity. And the digonal composition of spaces with superimposition and penetration provides tension and velocity, and it causes dynamism with dynamic flexibility. Therefore, Ex-Cubic spatial organization with the application of diagonality and curve and with the transposition of axis and grid in its design process provides dynamic field. |
