A Study on the Living Conditions of Squatter Sattlement Residents in Relocated Area in Pusan |
| Abstract |
Pusan is topographically narrow in possible living space and squatter settlements are dispersed ubiquitously owing to locational and social factors. These squatter settlements bring not only unsound residential environment for low-income residents but also a large problem to urban growth of Pusan.In case of Pusan the squatter settlements can be divided into three types according to locational types. Each of these squatter settlement types has its own charcteristics in the formation process and back-ground. Especially in case of Relocated Area despite the fact it is politically the removed emigrant accomodation area upon the promotion of squatter settlement improvement plan by the authorities, it is true this area is forming another squatter residence for the reasons that not only its living environment is poor because it does not have basic facilities as a permanent settlement of emigrants but also its surrounding area is forming squatter settlement due to regional peculiarities. Therefore this study, by finding out peculiarities of living and dwelling situation of squatter settlement dwellers of each type, compares and analyses Relocated Area with the present status of overall squatter settlements in Pusan and manifest regional peculiarities as a study of providing basic data for the future improvement of residential environment of squatter settlements in Pusan. |
