Experimental Study on the Shear Strength and Deformation Capacity of Low-Rise R/C Shear Walls Yielding in Flexure |
Abstract |
This paper reports on the test results of low-rise reinforced concrete structural walls with boundary columns(i.e., barbell crossed section) representing the first-story shear wall fo the proto-type medium-rise wall-frame structures. Tested were four half-scale models of test walls with height to length ratio of 0.75 in which design concept, the ratio of vertical flexural reinforcement and the details of shear reinforcement(including crossed diagonal shear reinforcement in SW7 specimen)were varied. The dimension of all walls is 1500mm wide X 950mm high x100mm thick for all specimens and the section of all boundary at both ends is 200mm x 200mm. Ductile behaviors after flexural yielding were observed in specimens SW6 and SW7. In SW7 specimen, maximum strength and consequently dissipating energy index were 1.45 and 1.28 times greater than those of SW6 specimen. respectively. |
