A Study on the Estimation of Optimum duration in view of Cost in Building Construction |
Abstract |
The purpose this study is to estimate optimum duration in view of cost in building construction. In this study, the definition of optimum duration is the least cost duration which is minimizing the total project cost or minimizing the sum of the cost of all resources used by a project, including time. Up to the present, tree time-cost trade-off method like MCX(Minimum Cost eXpediting) has been used to estimate optimum duration through shortening activity duration considering the minimum direct cost. It assumes that resources are unlimited, and activity time-cost curve varies linearly but nomally available resource level is constrained in most practical cases. So the additional mobilization cost of resource should be considerde of resource that exceeds the normally available To do this, RMCX(Resourced constrained Minimum cost eXpediting) method using revised cost slope considering the additonal mobilization cost in activities level is presented. The presented method can be practical to estimate optimum duration rationally in view of cost in building construction. |
