Abstract The skywalk system in pedestrian environmental planning and design is the one of three demensional ways of handling circulation of the pedestrians and vehicles in the CBD of the city.The skywalk system requires an understanding of geographic, social and cultural conditions of city in the aspect of regional and urban planning.This paper illustrates examples of the systems constructed and planned in urban centers of North America and presents design of direction for application of the system to our urban centers.Furthermore, the factors which decide the proper size of the system design and facility maintenance guidelines are discussed for referance to improve pedestrian facilities of our cities.
