| Abstract |
It has been widely accepted among the ethnographic researchers since 1905s that the culture, as a whole, should be understood as a cognitive system, or a knowledge system of a society. According to this ideational concept of culture, we can safely assume that the house forms are the cultural artifact based on the house-culture, and that they should be viewed as a knowledge system of the native society they belong to.In this point of view, I attempted, in this paper, to describe the the traditional house-culture of Northern Young-nam Province through the analysis of the native carpenters' knowledge system. |
