An Experimental Study on the Structural Characteristic of Cold-Formed Circular Steel Columns |
Abstract |
This study is a series of experimental investigation on the buckling strength of centrally loaded cold-formed structural circular section columns. In cold-formed and electric resistance welded structural circular steel sections, residual stresses are introduced by cold-forming and welding, and at the same time, material strength is increased by the strain hardening. These two effects will strongly influence the buckling behavior of centrally loaded cold-formed circular columns. This paper is to research local buckling behavior, and flexural buckling behavior of cold-formed and electric resistance welded circular steel columns, and attempts to improve the predictability of the performance of these products as structural compression members. |
