Abstract In this paper, an optimum design method is presented for BLDC motor magnet using genetic algorithm(GA) and response surface method(RSM). The cogging torque is calculated by finite element method for the designs obtained by GA and RSM. The results are compared and discussed for the simulation time and the cogging torque.
