Abstract |
A method is proposed to optimize the configuration of the collector system and the size of a submarine cable in the collector system of an offshore wind farm. In addition, an improvement in the existing method for calculating the loss cost is described considering a wide variety of capacities of wind turbines and the low availabilities of wind turbines. The proposed procedure optimizes the cable size on the basis of the incremental benefit-cost ratio theory and a new concept regarding the sensitivity of the loss cost. The proposed technique is applied to an offshore wind farm of 92.5MW capacity and the results of the case study demonstrate that sometimes a slightly thicker cable is more economical than the thinnest cable. |
